# Organizations

Organizations provide a way to group multiple companies under one umbrella. This is useful for businesses that operate with several distinct brands, departments, or entities but want to maintain centralized management and share resources efficiently.

## Understanding Organizations and Companies

Think of an organization as a container that holds one or more of your companies. This structure helps you keep everything tidy and under control.

* **Organization Structure:** Each company within your organization is a separate workspace. This means each has its own unique set of jobs, candidates, teams, and branding. This separation ensures that the operations of one company do not interfere with another.
* **Switching Between Companies:** As a user, you operate within one company at a time. If you have access to multiple companies within an organization, you can easily switch between them to manage different parts of your business without needing to log in and out.

## Managing Companies in Your Organization

You can add, deactivate, and restore companies within your organization to match your business structure as it evolves.

### Create a New Company

1. Navigate to **Settings > Team**.
2. Select the **Organizations** tab.
3. Click **Create Company**.

This will add a new, distinct company to your organization, ready for you to set up with its own jobs and branding.

### Deactivate a Company

Deactivating a company makes it inactive. While the data is not deleted, the company and its associated jobs and users will no longer be accessible.

### Restore a Company

You can restore a previously deactivated company, making it and its users active again.

## Roles and Permissions

Permissions determine who can manage the organization and what users can access across different companies.

* **Who Can Manage Organizations:** To manage an organization, a user must either have Admin access or be assigned a role with the "Manage Organization" permission.
* **Company Access:** A user's access to a company is determined by their role. A role can be assigned to a specific company, limiting the user's access to that workspace. Alternatively, a role can grant "All Companies" access, allowing the user to view and manage all companies across the entire organization.
