# Resume fit analysis

Resume Fit Analysis helps you quickly and consistently screen candidate resumes against your job requirements. It uses AI to score each resume, providing a detailed breakdown and insights to help you identify the best candidates and prepare for interviews.

### Configuring Resume Fit Criteria

To get the most accurate analysis, you'll want to provide clear criteria for what makes a candidate a good fit. These settings can be configured when creating or editing a job or a job template.

#### Define Minimum Requirements

You can specify the essential qualifications a candidate must have for the role. These are the core criteria the AI will use to score the resume.

* You can add multiple requirements as a list.
* Each requirement is evaluated independently.
* Examples include "4+ years of experience in product marketing" or "Proven expertise in B2B SaaS."

#### Add Custom AI Evaluation Instructions

For more nuanced scoring, you can provide additional, free-text instructions. This helps guide the AI's evaluation beyond the basic requirements.

* Use this to provide context or specific rules.
* For example: "If the candidate is not located in the required location, do not score them above 50."

#### Apply Criteria to Reusable Job Templates

To save time and ensure consistency across similar roles, you can save your minimum requirements and additional instructions within a job template. When you use the template to create a new job, these criteria will be automatically applied.

### Automating Workflows with Score Thresholds

You can automate your screening process by gating invitations on resume fit score in your [application workflow](/workflows/overview). This lets Alex automatically decide whether to invite a candidate based on their resume fit score.

#### Gate invitations on resume fit score

Add an **Is** condition that checks the candidate's resume fit score before the **Initiate Outreach** group. Only candidates who meet the score criteria you set continue to the invitation; the rest branch away.

#### Set the score range

The **Is** condition lets you require a resume fit score above a minimum -- or within a min/max range (0 to 100).

* Candidates whose resume fit score meets the condition are automatically invited for an interview.
* Candidates who don't meet it follow the other branch and are not invited.

#### Handle Candidates Without Resumes

You have the option to **Require Resume**. If you enable this setting, the system will automatically skip invitations for any candidates who do not have a resume attached to their profile.

### Running Resume Screens

Resume screening can be triggered in several ways, both automatically and manually.

#### Screen Inbound ATS Candidates Automatically

When a new candidate applies through your Applicant Tracking System (ATS), their resume is automatically fetched and screened against the job's configured criteria. The resume fit score and analysis are generated without any manual action needed.

#### Upload Resumes in Bulk

You can upload multiple resumes at once for a specific job.

* The system accepts PDF, DOC, and DOCX file formats.
* You can upload up to 50 files at a time.
* Each resume is then processed to extract candidate information and generate a fit score.

#### Manually Trigger or Rerun a Screen

There is a function to re-run the resume fit analysis for all candidates associated with a specific job. This is useful if you have updated the minimum requirements and want to re-score all existing candidates against the new criteria.

### Analyzing Screening Results

The screening process produces a detailed report for each candidate, giving you the insights you need to make informed decisions.

#### Interpret the Overall Fit Score (0–100)

Each resume receives an overall fit score from 0 to 100.

* **What it is:** The score is the average of how well the resume meets each of the minimum requirements you defined.
* **How to read it:** Scores are color-coded for a quick visual assessment:
  * **High (80-100):** Indicates a strong fit with the requirements.
  * **Medium (60-79):** Indicates a partial or moderate fit.
  * **Low (0-59):** Indicates a weak fit or that the resume is missing key requirements.

#### Review Requirement Evidence, Gaps, and Transferable Skills

For each minimum requirement, the analysis provides a detailed breakdown:

* **Evidence:** Provides 1–2 concise examples directly from the resume that show how the candidate meets the requirement.
* **Gap Analysis:** Notes anything that is missing or only partially met in the candidate's experience.
* **Transferable Skills:** Mentions any related skills the candidate possesses that, while not a direct match, could still help them succeed in the role.

#### Use AI Insights for Interview Preparation

The analysis is designed to help you prepare for more effective interviews. Look for these two sections in the report:

* **Key Fit Points:** A bulleted list of the top 3–5 reasons the candidate is a strong fit, highlighting their most relevant skills, technologies, and past roles.
* **Areas for Discussion:** A list of 2–3 topics that may require clarification during an interview, such as gaps in experience or unclear matches with the requirements.
